Joe Burrow, Joe Burrow MVP

Joe Burrow Should Be MVP

It is hard to focus on the football side of the NFL, given what happened to Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin on Monday night in Cincinnati. It goes without saying that the thoughts of everyone here at BengalKing740 are with Hamlin as he continues to recover from the cardiac arrest he suffered on the field in the Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals. This was a moment that we will not, and should not, ever forget.

Joe Burrow MVP Case

The NFL will inevitably continue. While that particular game’s status remains in the air, the league has already confirmed it will not be altering the Week 18 schedule. The Bengals still have plenty to play for – including a potential No. 1 seed in the AFC – and so much of that is down to the play of quarterback Joe Burrow.

Burrow – who proved once again that he is a class act and a leader in how the Bengals reacted to the Hamlin situation – has had another fantastic year in Cincinnati. He is a front-runner in the NFL MVP race, with Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles alongside him. I think that he deserves the award over both of those other quarterbacks.

Burrow was the NFL Comeback Player of the Year last season when he threw for over 4,600 yards with 34 touchdowns and 14 picks. Weirdly, those stats weren’t enough to see him make it to the Pro Bowl, something that has already been rectified this year. His numbers through 15-games project to be even better than a season ago, with Burrow sitting on 4,260 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 12 picks, with Burrow on pace to get close to the 5,000 yards and 40 touchdown thresholds.

The amazing aspect of this potential MVP run is that the Bengals were not good over the season’s first two months. They were 4-4 at one point this year, with the team struggling to bed in a new offensive line against a tough start to the season. In those games, Burrow was arguably at his most valuable, helping the Benglans win four games while constantly under duress and scrambling to make passes. As the line became more solid and Burrow had more time in the pocket, the Bengals have gone from strength to strength and look like a genuine contender to make it back to the Super Bowl in February.

Burrow is everything to this team. His name should be on the NFL MVP Award for 2022.

Always remember, Joe Burrow is the Bengal King. Geaux Burrow!!
